Membership Meeting is Feb. 16 in Hermann;
Paneitz to Give Nature Photography Program
The Society's first membership meeting of 2020 will be held Sunday, Feb. 16, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Hermann. The event will be held in the lower level meeting room of the Hermann United Methodist Church on Hwy. 100 west.
If you enter through the front door of the church, turn right and take the stairs to the lower level. If you need help with steps, there is an elevator there, or you may enter through the side entrance at the bottom of the ramp.
The featured speaker at this meeting will be photographer Bruce Paneitz, a life-long resident of Gasconade County. He became interested in photography after he worked on his Owensville High School yearbook. Bruce does mostly landscape and nature photography, and is especially interested in capturing images of bald eagles.
Bruce is a Missouri Conservation Eagle Nest Monitor and submitted the photo used on the signs that identifies monitors when they are on duty. He has had several photos published in the Missouri Conservation magazine and regularly contributes to the Naturalist Notebook, a well-known Facebook site with followers world-wide.
Mr. Paneitz will be showing examples of his photography and telling his audience about his love of the camera shutter. Join us on the Feb. 16 for an enjoyable program, highlighting the county's and state’s natural beauty.
GCHS membership meetings are free and are open to the public. Members are encouraged to bring guests. Light refreshments will be served after the program.
