A NOTE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT

It was with reluctance that the Board accepted Bonnie Brown’s resignation as the Museum’s Administrator.  We do understand, though, all volunteers need a break from responsibilities after a while.  Thank you, Bonnie, for all you have done for the Museum and the Society.

Now we have the task of finding a replacement.  The Administrator’s job can be divided into three categories-Curator duties, maintenance, and volunteer coordinator.  Bonnie has been fulfilling all of the areas.  She suggested, however, that it would maybe be easier, more efficient, and/or easier to find a volunteer if the responsibilities were divided up.

With that said, is anyone (or do you know anyone) who would be interested in the Curator position or one of the other two positions? Below is a brief description of the main duties in the three categories.

Curator

1.       Arrange for collection and display of items meeting the GCHS statement

2.       Establish/maintain a process for accessing artifact donations

3.        Maintain records of artifacts inventory and donor list

4.       Assure funds collected and bills are timely sent to the treasurer

5.       Arrange for any special exhibits and seasonal decorations

Building Maintenance

1.       Arrange for needed repairs and maintenance to buildings & lot

2.       Monitor & arrange for insect control

3.       Replace lightbulbs, batteries, and flags as needed

4.       Install memorial bricks in the walkway

5.       Engage and work with cleaning and grounds maintenance personnel

Volunteer Coordinator

1.       Arrange for volunteers needed to conduct Museum operations

2.       Establish duty checklist for volunteer

3.       Maintain a record of volunteer hours

4.       Arrange for volunteer appreciation activities

Bonnie has graciously agreed to stay on for a while to train and orientate her successor.  If you would be interested in any or all of the positions, please call me at (573-437-3631) or Bonnie at (573-259-0045.  Please consider how you might help.
